After falling in love with Pilates and its benefits on the body, Tahlia studied STOTTs Pilates training and has been instructing since 2012. Her classes are fun and full of energy. Tahlia’s background in dance influences her teaching style, allowing for continuous, flowing movement that will challenge the entire body like never before and leave you feeling lengthened, strengthened and aligned.
Sunrise Flow (Morning Class)
Start your day by lengthening the body from head to toe as daylight breaks on the island. Connect to your breath, moving harmoniously and instinctively through continuous flowing movements and patterns, leaving your body feeling awake, alive and ready for the day ahead.
Power Pilates (50 mins Mat Pilates)
Classical mat repertoire meets functional fitness to create the ultimate in contemporary Pilates experience. Each class provides a full body workout focusing on strengthening and lengthening, whilst toning and tightening. Improve your body awareness, muscular activation and core control whilst working up a sweat and feeling the burn! Power Pilates is designed to keep you moving for the entire 50 minutes and is suitable for all levels with modifications and progressions provided. Each class will vary and include the use of props to keep your body challenged and mind excited.
Revive Release Relax (Evening Stretch/Yin Style class)
A restorative stretch class aimed to balance the body and mind. Lengthen longer and stretch deeper into your muscles while improving flexibility and resting posture. This class is suitable for all levels and will leave you with a sense of tranquility and calm mind as the evening winds down.
The Pilates Powerhouse - Core Strength and Stability
Focus on Fascia - Myofascial Movement and Restorative Release
Final Class - "How it all began"
To end the retreat, Tahlia will host a special class on the original classical matwork series as Joseph Pilates created and intended it to be.
“I found Pilates after returning to Australia from an overseas dance contract. I was in desperate need of something new - I was young, over worked, over trained, depressed, struggling with an eating disorder and trying to manage a back injury which I had been trying to mask for years. I had so much negative association to dancing I couldn't bring myself to go to a class, so instead I started Pilates.
Pilates taught me to connect to my breath, let go of my expectations and my mind was able to begin to catch up with my body. I learnt that no one is competing with me; life isn't a competition!
Completing my Pilates training was the best decision I ever made. I am qualified in Mat, Reformer and Studio Pilates and have been teaching for the past 5 years across multiple studios in Melbourne from rehabilitation to athletic conditioning and everything in between. I get to spend every day helping people safely achieve their fitness and lifestyle goals; whether that be to reduce pain, increase strength or tighten and tone their butts – through correct education and movement patterns anything is possible!
Pilates changed my perspective of my body and my mind - But it's more than just having a healthier body image; for me it was learning that every muscle and every bone in my body serves a purpose. Rather than judging, and comparing my size or shape - I now see my body function and strength - I feel the power of a clear and connected mind - I appreciate it for the movement it provides me and the freedom that it facilitates!
I love what I do and I cant wait to share my passion with you!"
In between classes, we have curated a selection of nature focused activities allowing you to immerse yourself in the tranquillity of Langkawi's lush tropical rainforest. All activities are completely optional and included within the retreat at no extra cost.
There will also be plenty of free time to unwind, relax and pamper yourself. Lounge on the sunbeds on the private beach, relax by the pool or treat yourself to some TLC at the award winning spa (exclusive One Hot discounts offered). If you're feeling adventurous, go deep sea jet ski island hopping or on a nature trek through the tropical rainforests!.
At 10 million years old, Langkawi’s rainforest is one of the oldest jungles in the world.
The Mat Cincang mountain range is one of the oldest rock formations in Southeast Asia. As morning light breaks, the forest awakens to the sights and sounds of birds, monkeys, squirrels and a myriad of other delightful animals.
We will take a relaxing guided walk with a naturalist amongst the lush greenery to catch sightings of the thriving plant and animal life here.
Cable Car & Skybridge
The Mat Cincang mountain range is one of the oldest rock formations in Southeast Asia. To experience it fully, take an exhilarating 2.2-kilometre aerial ride in a cable car over the forest canopy and up the mountain escarpment to the summit at 708 metres (2,323 feet).
This is one of the world's steepest cable car rides. Observe the 550 million-year-old sandstone outcrops, waterfalls and verdant mountain flora below while marvelling at the breathtaking 360-degree view of Langkawi’s peaks, coastline and even the surrounding Thai islands of Koh Tarutao, Koh Adang and Koh Lipe
Kayaking to the Mangroves
The Mangroves are home to a unique group of plants that have adapted to live in an environment of constant and dynamic change dictated by the rise and fall of the tides.
We row with the flow of the tide along the tranquil mangrove forests to enjoy local birdlife and wildlife before a short 450m trek that leads to a secluded stream where fresh waters cascade into a beautiful clear pool. Enjoy a dip in the refreshing waters to cool off for the afternoon.
Join us on a relaxing sunset cruise on the last night of the retreat as we cruise through the picturesque straits to the best highlights of the southern islands. You will have the opportunity to enjoy a swim in the crystal clear sea and witness the mesmerising colours of the sky change as the sun begins to set over the horizon.
As we watch the sun set from the open air top deck, indulge in a sumptuous BBQ dinner cooked on board and enjoy a nightcap with your new found friends with the open bar.
Optionals (at own cost)
